Overcoming Long-Term Sickness: How to Find Your Way Back to Work

We just read a news article stating that ‘Britain Needs You’.

The Office for National Statistics shows that 32.2% of people economically inactive due to long-term sickness or disability want to find a job.

About 2.5 million people are now off work due to long-term sickness – a rise of nearly 20% since before the pandemic.

Parker Enterprise Run Support Programmes

At Parker Enterprise Company we are currently running mental health and disability support programmes for those who are long term unemployed and have a great success rate for getting people back to work.

The following would really help too:

1. A flexible benefits system enabling those who are scared of having to go through the whole benefits application again, should their job not work out. Universal Credit allows for this although it may mean a change to UC.

2. Better off in work calculators used to reassure those on disability benefits that they may not lose all of their entitlements.

3. More dialogue with some employers regarding ‘reasonable adjustments’ to enable more people with health conditions to return to work.

We Help Build Confidence

During our courses, we are able to help build the confidence of those unemployed clients we work with in a variety of ways and can assist with the above 3 points. Taking a holistic approach to wellbeing and employability, 99% of our course participants describe our courses as ‘transformative’. We always focus on what people can do, rather than what they cannot do.

A Positivity Benefit

So, Britain does need you and hopefully the white paper about to be published as well as the next budget will positively benefit the 32.2% of economically inactive people wanting to get back to work! View a full list of our services.
